Information on Blackheads
Blackheads are tiny, dark spots caused by a small plug in the opening of a follicle (pore) on the skin. Blackheads are also called open comedomes. A blackhead is a type of acne vulgaris. It is caused by excess oils that have accumulated in the sebaceous gland "s duct. Blackheads are typically caused by excessive oil and makeup, which can facilitate the multiplication of the bacterium propionibacterium acnes, the predominant anaerobe of the normal skin flora.Blackheads required to be softened with steam or hot water or oil and then can drawn out easily with either betonite or with a syringe. Whiteheads are formed the same way as blackheads with the objection that the pore is closed and the oxidation does not occur.
Blackheads are more often associated with teenagers from fifteen to eighteen years of age, and that is why this disease has another name also. It is labeled teenage blackheads rash. Blackheads represent red color nodules that are often painful. Also, blackheads represent non-inflammatory condones, that are painless black points. Spots settle down, in general on the face, neck, back, and breast.
If the inflammation is right near the surface, a pustule is formed; if it is deeper, a papule (pimple); deeper still and it becomes a cyst. If the oil breaks though to the surface, the result is a whitehead. If the oil becomes oxidized (that is, acted on by oxygen in the air), the oil changes from white to black, and the result is a blackhead. This is how the two types of comedones develop.
Rosacea is a common but often misunderstood condition that is estimated to affect over 45 million people worldwide. It affects white-skinned people of mostly north-western European descent, and has been nicknamed the "curse of the Celts" by some in Ireland. It begins as erythema (flushing and redness) on the central face and across the cheeks, nose, or forehead but can also less commonly affect the neck and chest.
Blackheads form when the oil producing glands in the skin produce too much oil and it collects in a skin pore. As the oil begins to harden, the blackhead forms. The top of the blackhead is exposed to air, which is causing it to dry out faster and turns it black. This gives the blackhead its signature look (and of course its name).
Acne is characterized by the presence of comedones or blackheads, pimples, small superficial sebaceous cysts and scars. There are over half a dozen forms of acne. All of them are concerned with sebaceous glands or the glands connected with hair follicles. The most common form of acne is blackheads. The areas chiefly affected are the forehead, temples, cheeks, and chin, the chest and back. In rare cases, almost the entire body may be covered with black heads with extensive scarring.
Blackheads is caused when excess skin oil, sebum and congesting toxins are expelled through your skin from the blood and lymph fluid that supplies your skin with nutrients. These congesting toxins combined with skin oil and sebum clogs your pores causing blackheads, whiteheads, and full blown acne.
